The average American eats around 120 pounds of sugar per year! In the 1800's it was only 2 pounds.1 The low fat and no fat craze hit in the 80's and since then we have become one thing...fat.
When fat is removed from food something has to be put in for the food to be good enough to eat....SUGAR. Arguably the most toxic food known to man because of its gross overuse and deadly effects. That excess around your waist, thighs, and butt is not excess fat...in most cases it's excess sugar!
Sugar is linked to obesity diabetes, cancer, inflammatory disease, mental illness, and more.2 It is more addictive to the brain than cocaine. 3 So when the picture is painted that you have a big sugar problem the first response is usually resistance. Most, skinny or overweight, believe they do not eat too much sugar.
1 cup organic almond milk
1/2 frozen organic banana
2 large spoon fulls of raw almond butter
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Put all ingredients into a high powered blender and blend until smooth. Can give or take amounts of smoothie to your liking! This smoothie is so good it could be a snack, drink, or dessert!
*Can add shredded coconut to top it off
4-6 celery stalks
1 green apple
2 cups spinach and/or kale
1 head of romaine lettuce
1 lime (optional)
1 small knob ginger (optional)
Juice all ingredients in a juicer. Stir and serve over ice if desired!
1 large handful of spinach
1 cup coconut milk and/or almond milk
½ cup frozen blueberries
1 heaping spoonful almond butter
1 scoop grass-fed protein powder
Cacao nibs (optional)
Flax or chia seeds (optional)
Amounts may vary depending on size of smoothie. Above amounts are estimates for a single smoothie. Mix all ingredients in blender until smooth. Add more milk as needed.
